Glasgow: Recital with Julian Chan

  • Cairn's Church Milngavie 11 Buchanan Street Glasgow, Scotland, G62 8AW United Kingdom (map)

The energy and vibrant intensity of young Scottish cellist Hugh Mackay’s playing made such a strong impression in his first Milngavie concert two years ago that we immediately re-invited him. Since then, Hugh has gone on to further solo success and this time he is partnered by award-winning Malaysian-born pianist Julian Chan who is rapidly earning a reputation as a highly innovative musician with an exciting solo career. However, they are both committed chamber music players and here demonstrate their rapport in music by Beethoven and British composers Mark Simpson, Benjamin Britten and his teacher Frank Bridge.

“...the young Scot has a brilliant technique, which he showed in the rousingly-played...finale”
